Pattani perattal:

Stock Legumes in your kitchen,it will help you in great deal at time to manage situation if there is any scarcity of vegetables.Dry peas can be used to make Masala,Kurma,gravy and perattal,this will make you to feel satisfied with the meal.Spicy pattani perattal cn be serve with chapathi,roti,rice and rasm .I love this perattal with plain cooked rice and rasam, simply awesome combination.

Ingredients: serves 3 to 4 person

Dry peas-1 cup

Garlic-7 pods (chopped)

Onion-1 big chopped

Tomato-1 big chopped

Ginger paste-1 tsp

Curry leaves-2 stinrg

Masala powder-2 tsp

Salt-1 tsp

Garam masala-1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp

 

To season:

Oil-1 tbsp

Fennel seeds-1 tsp

Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp

Method:

1. Soak dry peas over night,pressure cook for 3 whistle.

2.Heat pan with oil and season with above mentioned ‘To season’ ingredients.

3.Add chopped onion, garlic,curry leaves and garlic paste saute for 1 minute.

4.Add tomato and salt saute till it leaves its skin.

5.Add garam masala powder,masala powder,crushed pepper cumin powder-1/4 tsp(optional) and turmeric powder,mix well.

6.Add some water and cooked peas, stir occasionally.

7.Switch off when it gets incorporated well to masala form.

8.Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and chopped onion, on top and serve.

Note:

Soaked legumes can be stored in refrigerator for a week time.
