Wheat Rava Pongal:
Special breakfast Pongal made out of raw rice and Moong dal is the regular breakfast menu served everywhere in Southside. This Rava Pongal replaces rice with broken wheat/samba Rava, taste is really palatable with coconut chutney or sambar. The aroma of this dish, Ghee fried Rava and Moong dal cooked along with ginger and peppercorns gives you a nice aroma while preparing, will make you feel its heavenly taste. Doctors say that wheat is good when compared to Rice, alternatively, wheat has the same quality.

Ingredients:
Samba Wheat Rava-1 cup
Split moong dal-1/2 cup
Ginger-2 tsp
Pepper corns-7 nos
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
Salt-1/2 tsp
Ghee-1 tbsp
Oil-1 tbsp
Cashews-7 nos
Freshly ground pepper-1/4 tsp
Curry leaves-2 twigs
Green chili-2 nos
Method:
Fry Wheat Rava and Split moong dal separately to golden yellow in little ghee.
Add wheat rava, Moong dal, 3 cups of water, grated Ginger, coarsely crushed peppercorns, and cumin seeds along with 1/2 tsp of Salt, pressure cook for 2 whistles.
Heat pan, add rest of the Ghee and Oil, add cumin seeds and Cashews fry golden brown, add curry leaves and split green chilli.
Add cooked wheat rava and dal mixture to this, stir well and allow it to get coagulated in low flame for 3 minutes.
Sprinkle some crushed pepper and serve with Coconut chutney or Sambar.
