Paal koottu:
During hot summer, we prefer to have mild and less spicy dishes like koottu,rasam or soup.Mild dishes are the best choice to comfort the digestive system, rather than spicy puli kuzhambu or kara kuzhambu.
Pal koottu is a mild,delectable dish, main ingredients are with any vegetable like snake guard,rib guard cabbage,pumpkin,surakkai and chow chow can be used to prepare this yummy koottu, toor dal and thick coconut milk or fresh milk is added are the special ingredients of this dish.

Ingredients: I have used rib guard here, Peerkangai in Tamil
Rib guard-1 medium size or 200 gms,peel and cut in to cubes
Toor dal-1 1/2 tbsp
Milk-2 to 3 tbsp
Salt-1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1 pinch
To grind:
Coconut-2 tbsp
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
shallots-3 to 4 nos
Green chillies-3 to 4 nos
Grind to a smooth paste.
Method to prepare:
1.Boil toor dal in a pressure cooker for 2 to 3 whistle.
2.Boil milk and 1/2 cup of water, add cut rib guard, boil till soft.
OR
the vegetable can be cooked in water, milk added finally before seasoning.
3.Add boiled dal,turmeric powder and ground paste allow it to boil for few (2 to 3 ) minutes,mix salt.
4.Heat pan with 2 teaspoon of oil,season it with mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Serve with cooked rice.
