Pickle Masala

All in one Pickle masala ready to make any type of pickle with minimal effort.

Summer is the right season to make pickles at home for year-long usage. Pickle takes the specific role in every Indian meal or Dining Table (occupies a permanent place on the dining table). We get varieties of seasonal vegetables like Mango, Citron (Northangai) Gooseberry, Tomato, Lemon, Chili, Ginger, and many more… Most of the vegetables can be pickled at home easily for regular usage. Many of us think that making a pickle is a big task or a difficult process, it is as simple as cooking bit more consciousness keeps the pickle safe in a long time of use because we don’t use any preservatives. This pickle Masala supports a great deal to make wonders on pickles. Moreover, this makes the procedure simple to follow in preparation within a short time. If you are comfortable in making pickle often with this masala no need to worry about long life to store you can make whenever you feel the stock is less. always store the pickles in a glass jar or Ceramic containers.

Commonly the ingredients are Red chili, Kashmiri red chili, Fenugreek, Mustard seeds, Turmeric powder asafoetida, and salt. You can buy all as powders mix and store in a clean container to make pickles

Method: There are two methods of preparing this masala one is Just to mix all powders and store them in a bottle, the other to make the powders at home dry roast which gives a fresh aroma to grind and store for use.

Mix and Make:

Red chili powder-3 tbsp (1/2 cup)

Kashmiri chili powder -3 tbsp(1/2 cup) (for color this wont be very spicy)

Mustard powder-1 1/2 teaspoon

Fenugreek powder-1 tsp, (cumin powder-1/2 tsp is completely optional)

Asafoetida-1/2 teaspoon

Turmeric powder-1 tsp

Salt, Place all powders in a wide glass bowl mix well and store in a dry container.

Roast and Grind:

Red chilli-25gm

Kashmiri chilli-25 gm

Mustard seeds-2 teaspoon

Methi seeds-11/2 teaspoon

Asafoetida-1/2 teaspoon

Turmeric root -1 small piece or (1/2 tsp powder)


Heat thick bottom pan, do not add any oil for roasting slightly dry roast the ingredients one after the other collect all together, grind to a fine powder store in clean dry jars.

Pickle powder is ready to make pickles in few efforts.


Roasted Methi seeds not only aroma it helps as natural preserving agent along with lemon and salt.

Mustard seeds (better)white or black is fine
