Karuvttu kuzhambu/Dry fish curry:
Traditional dry fish curry for dry fish lovers. It has distinct flavour and spicy awesome taste with plain cooked rice. Ingredients:
Onion-1 chopped
Garlic-7 pods
Tomato-1 cut
Brinjal-3 nos
Curry leaves-2 twig
Dry fish/Karuvadu-50 gms I have used Nethilli Karuvadu/anchovies
Sambar masala powder-3 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Tamarind-1 small lemon sized extract juice of it
Salt-1 tsp
Preparation method:
1.Soak Karuvadu for an hour remove head and clean dry fish.
2.Cut onion,brinjal, tomato,and garlic.
3.Heat pan with one teaspoon of oil and season it with Fennel and Cumin seeds.
4.Add cut Onion and Garlic saute for a while, add Curry leaves,salt,brinjal and tomato saute until tomato leaves its skin.
5.Mix turmeric powder,masala powder, tamarind extract and a cup of water,allow it to boil for 5 minutes.
6.Finally add cleaned dry fish and cook for 5 more minutes in low flame.
Serve with cooked rice.
