Butter Sticks

Butter sticks: 

The snack has a different version to impress children and snack lovers, in that category we have Butter sticks as an innovative recipe. What is special in this snack!!! even though it has the site of Murukku it is unconventionally made to sticks which melt in the mouth with the fresh aromatic cumin bite. This will tempt children to enjoy a snack box favorite by its finger-like crispy fries.

Ingredients:

Raw rice flour-1 cup

Besan flour-1 3/4 tbsp (Chickpea flour -kadalai Mavu)

Channa dal flour-1 3/4 tbsp (fried channa -Pottukadalai Mavu)

Butter-2 tbsp or 40 grams

Cumin seeds-3/4 tsp slightly crushed

Salt-1/2 tsp

Method:

In a wide bowl mix, all flour items with salt, cumin seeds, and butter mix well, add water little by little and mix to a consistency of the chappathi batter. (as smooth butter)

Take a portion of the mixture fill in the press, on a tray or sheet, do a long press, cut in to finger length sticks.

Heat oil and deep fry to golden yellow. (sizzling sound reduces once done)

allow it to room temperature and store in an airtight jar.

Gathering at Brunch- Butter sticks with Juice,

At Lunch  Butter sticks with soup

At supper Butter sticks with Cofee or tea

we know that ladies finger has a lot of medicinal values, even though most of us avoid ladies finger because of its gluey nature, here is a wonderful idea to consume ladies finger as we like.

Pick matured Ladiesfinger wash and wipe with a clean cotton cloth.

Cut into 1/2inch  pieces, dry under the fan or the sun leave it spread for a day.

Next day,  in a bowl, take 1 cup of curd, approximately 100 ml, add salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder mix well.

Now add cut ladies finger pieces mix such that to get coated well.

Spread this in a cloth or wide sheet dry under direct sunlight.

Repeat this process until the vegetables get dried completely.

Store it in a container.

This can be shallow fried, serve as fried side dish or powder this and mix with cooked rice and ghee or oil.

Bitter Gourd Golden Fry / Chips

Bitter Gourd Golden Fry / Chips:

The name is enough to make kids run away,  I am sure there are still some people who hate this vegetable. This type of fried recipes will grab their attention, it is really awesome to match with plain cooked rice and sambar. My mother used to crush this fried bitter gourd and simply mix with rice and eat this is very good for diabetics. This can be stored for 3 to 4 days in a container.  Complete taste of bitter gourd can be enjoyed from this bitter gourd fry. It is must to take once in a week for healthy living.

It has lots of benefits, like intestinal health and helps get rid of nematode worms. It is so good for diabetic patients, does not cure diabetes but it helps lower the sugar level. This healthy vegetable has beauty benefits too. Bitter melon is invariably good for your skin. It helps gets rid of acne and gives you a flawless complexion. There are several other health benefits of bitter gourd-like weight loss and beauty care. It contains a laxative property.

Ingredients:

Bitter gourd-250 gms

Buttermilk or sour curd-1/4 cup this helps to reduce the bitterness of the vegetable

Salt-1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp

Rice flour-2 tsp

Method:

Wash and slice bitter gourd, deseed it.

Sprinkle some buttermilk, add salt, turmeric powder, and rice flour mix it well to marinate for 20 minutes.

Heat oil and squeeze and drop a few slices carefully into the hot oil.

Stir occasionally, drain and remove from oil once the sizzling sound reduces.

Potato Triangle chips

Potato Triangle chips(Urulai Kizhangu Varuval):

Any thing made out of potatoes grab attention and curiosity to eat,especially chips.Triangle chips out of Potatoes is very simple can be made with only 5 easy steps.It  has different tooth-some taste compared with store bought chips,prepared at home is safe and fresh .This can be matched with all type of ready made rice and rice with sambar.Triangle chips will be crunchy and soft, so this can be served with meals.No doubt children will eat with whole hearted.

Ingredients:

Potato-3 big size

Butter milk or yogurt-3 tsp

Salt-1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp

Method:

1.Peel and cut in to thin triangle slices, wash off well to remove  any gluten present in it.

2.Drain water completely,take a wide bowl mix curd salt and turmeric powder .

5.Heat oil in a kadai to deep fry,when it becomes hot squeeze potato slices and fry till golden brown.

This can be served with sambar rice or tamarind rice.
